STANFORD, Calif. — Following a successful campaign on the course, Stanford men’s golf racked up its final off-the-course awards as a program record four Cardinal were named NCAA DI Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Monday. Stanford’s four honorees include Dean Greyserman, Jay Leng, Ethan Gao, and Nathan Wang.Â
Stanford joins the list of 210 DI programs while the four Cardinal are part of the 649 DI athletes honored this season. To be eligible for the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, or receiving their associate degree in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA.Â
Additionally, student-athletes must participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career GPA of 3.2 or higher. Recipients must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.Â
Stanford’s four honorees is the most in program history, besting the previous mark of three that has been tied six times. Greyserman and Leng both earn the award for the first time in their collegiate careers while Gao becomes a two-time GCAA All-America Scholar. Wang, meanwhile, earns the accolade for the third time in his career having been tabbed to the list the previous two seasons. All four honorees were also named to the All-ACC Academic team earlier this summer.
