STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford sophomore defender Alex Tay has been selected to represent Ghana at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in September.
The Black Princesses will open their FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup campaign against Ecuador on Sunday, September 6, at the Arena Sosnowiec.
Ghana will play their second Group C fixture against South Korea on Wednesday, September 9, before coming up against France in the last group game on September 12 at the Arena Sosnowiec.
Ghana will play all their group matches at 9 a.m. PT.
The Black Princesses are making their eighth consecutive appearance at the biennial tournament, aiming to make it past the group stage for the first time in their history.
Tay suited up with Ghana at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations earlier this month as Ghana secured one of Africa's two places in the interconfederation playoffs for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup after coming from behind to defeat Ivory Coast 2-1 in Casablanca on August 13.
The win sent the Black Queens through to the 10-team interconfederation playoffs, which will take place across two international breaks between November and February, with the three mini-tournament winners securing their places in next year's World Cup in Brazil
