Men’s Basketball Signs Bliss

Bliss was the CUSA Freshman of the Year in 2025-26

STANFORD, Calif. – Adding a talented guard to the roster, Stanford men’s basketball has signed Christian Bliss as a transfer from Delaware. Bliss is the second transfer addition of the offseason for the Cardinal.

“We are thrilled to add Christian Bliss to our program. He is an experienced player who has the opportunity to step in and help get our program to the next level,” said Kyle Smith, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men’s Basketball. “He is a multifaceted guard who can play anywhere on the perimeter, and he is very comfortable running the pick and roll to create for himself and others. He also possesses the ability to create and score away from the ball.”

Bliss was one of the most dynamic freshman guards in the history of Conference USA, as he was the first freshman in the conference’s history to average at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists per game. Bliss was the CUSA Freshman of the Year and a second team All-CUSA honoree while also earning nods to the CUSA All-Freshman team and All-Academic team.

“Christian’s talent and skill will complement our talented group of newcomers and returners. More importantly, Christian has the right character and appreciation for Stanford,” continued Smith. “He has modeled his game after fellow New Yorker, Ty Jerome. Ty inspired Christian to commit to Virginia, and after Coach Bennett retired, he went to Delaware where he had a tremendously productive and awards-filled season. Christian's ability to connect and make others better gives us an ability to reach new heights.”

A starter in all 31 games as a redshirt freshman for the Blue Hens, the 6-foot-4 Bliss averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.8 steals in 39.8 minutes per game. He led the NCAA in minutes per game and ranked third in the CUSA in assists (184), assists per game, steals per game and free throw percentage (84.8%). Bliss ranked 25th nationally in assists per game, and he also shot 39.2 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, making 2.2 3-pointers per game.

Bliss arrived at Delaware following two years at Virginia, where Bliss had a pair of redshirt seasons. The Queens, New York native graduated from George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania in 2023, where he was named Non-Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Player of the Year. He was a first team all-state honoree after leading George School to a runner-up finish at the state championship.

A consensus three-star signing out of high school, Bliss was ranked as high as No. 150 by Rivals.
