Stanford finishes second in the Women's DMR and 4x800 relay at historic Franklin Field

PHILADELPHIA - Stanford track & field collected a pair of runner-up finishes at the 129th edition of the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field.

The Cardinal opened the weekend with a second-place finish in the women’s distance medley relay, as Juliette Whittaker, Alyssa Jones, Amelia Everett, and Mena Scatchard clocked a 10:36.90 for the second-fastest time in NCAA history.

Stanford finished a half-step behind North Carolina (10:36.82), with both programs besting the previous collegiate record of 10:37.55 set by Harvard in 2024.

The new mark shattered the previous program record of 10:50.56, set by Melissa Tanaka, Maya Valmon, Roisin Willis, and Whittaker in 2023, by nearly 14 seconds. Whittaker's opening 1200m split of 3:12.81 was also a Penn Relays record, topping Providence's Shannon Flockhart's 3:15.11 set in 2024.

The quartet of Everett, Scatchard, Hillary Studdert, and Whittaker matched that performance on Saturday in the 4x800 relay, placing second behind Penn State (8:18.43) with a time of 8:20.60.

Stanford’s sprint relay group of Alaysia Oakes, Alyssa Jones, Samantha Ennin, and Elena Cooper impressed in Friday’s 4x100 relay prelims, posting a 44.79 to advance to Saturday’s final, where they ultimately finished ninth in 46.11.
