Revuelta Shines Again at Champions Retreat

Four Cardinal above the projected cut line

AUGUSTA, Ga. — There’s something about Andrea Revuelta at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur that has been hitting different since last year. After finishing tied for fourth overall in 2025, the sophomore from Spain is sitting in a tie for third overall after 18 holes at Champions Retreat to begin the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Four Cardinal are in position to advance to Saturday’s final round.

The last round Revuelta played at Champions Retreat, she shot a 66. That’s what she opened with on Wednesday in the first round, matching that score from the 2025 second round. She overcame a birdie on one to finish the rest of the day clean, posting seven birdies. Twice, she went back-to-back (6-7 and 13-14), and on her last nine, she was 4-under.

That puts Revuelta just one stroke off the lead, with defending NCAA individual champion Maria Jose Marin (Arkansas) and Soomin Oh (Korea) pacing the field at 7-under.

Not far behind Revuelta is fellow Stanford sophomore Meja Örtengren, who shot a 5-under 67 on Wednesday. Her round featured just one blemish (bogey on 17), but her last nine was clean after she began the day on hole ten. Like Revuelta, she finished the day 4-under on the last nine, including a span of three birdies in four holes at her turn. She is two strokes back of the lead and in a tie for sixth.

Paula Martín Sampedro and Kelly Xu are both one stroke above the projected cut line, in a tie for 23rd at 1-under with 71s. They both had great starts, with Martín Sampedro starting with two birdies through three holes, while Xu birdied her first two holes. Both advanced to the final round last year, and both sit in position to do so again with 18 holes remaining.

Megha Ganne (5-over 77) and Nikki Oh (5-over 77) sit five strokes behind the projected cut. Ganne has advanced to the final round the last three years. Oh has never advanced to the final round.

After having a majority of its representation tee off later in the morning on Wednesday, most of the Stanford contingent in Augusta will tee off early on Thursday. Xu is off first at 5 a.m. PT, with four of the six Cardinal teeing off before 5:30 a.m. PT. The field will be cut to the top-30 with ties following the second round.
