Rottman Collects MPSF Honor

Named Defensive Player of the Week

STANFORD, Calif. – Redshirt junior Alex Rottman has been named the Defensive Player of the Week in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) for the first time in his career.

Rottman led Stanford defensively in a pair of road matches at No. 5 UC Irvine, averaging 1.67 digs and 1.00 blocks per set. He was also perfect on serve receive, recording zero reception errors on a combined 43 total attempts.

The Santa Barbara native also turned in 2.78 kills on .302 hitting and 3.39 points per set against the Anteaters. On Saturday, he recorded a career-high 19 kills on .455 hitting and matched his career-best with 10 digs for his second double-double of the season. The outside hitter also posted a career-high seven blocks and an ace in the five-set loss.

No. 17 Stanford opens MPSF play this weekend, hosting Jessup on Friday and UC Merced on Saturday. Both matches begin at 6 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion.
