Card Dominates MPSF Awards

Stanford was well represented among the MPSF's annual awards

STANFORD, Calif. – In addition to claiming its fifth straight MPSF title this past weekend, Stanford was well-represented among the conference’s individual awards.

Dalia Ovadia was named MPSF Swimmer of the Meet, Karen Xue was tabbed the MPSF Freshman of the Meet and Elvira Khasyanova was awarded the MPSF Coach of the Meet, as the Cardinal completed a near-sweep of the conference accolades. Incarnate Word’s Marloes Steenbeek was the MPSF High-Point champion.

Ovadia accumulated a team-high and an overall second-most 63 championship points. She was named first team all-conference for the second straight year. Ovadia defended her MPSF title in the trio event (224.8996), placed second in the duet (228.1988) and team (200.2033) events, and finished fourth in the Tech ‘A’ (76.3602) competition. Stanford has won all five annual MPSF Artistic Swimmer awards (Ovadia-2026, Megumi Field-2025, Yara Elian-2024, Lindi Schroeder-2023, Nicole Goot-2022).

Xue produced an MPSF freshman-high 48 championship points, sixth-most in the entire conference, on the way to earning first team all-conference honors. In her first collegiate championship competition, Xue was an MPSF champion in the trio event (224.8996), placed second in the team event (200.2033) and posted a top-five finish in her Tech ‘A’ routine (75.2055). Xue makes it four out of five for Stanford in earning the MPSF’s annual freshman award (Xue-2026, Field-2025, Elian-2023, Goot-2022).

Khasyanova guided the Cardinal to a fifth straight MPSF Championship, as the Cardinal posted conference titles in the duet, trio, and team events, in addition to second through sixth-place finishes in the Tech ‘A,’ second-place in the duet and team, and third-place in the trio. Khasyanova is in her first season as head coach since arriving on The Farm in September 2018 while serving as assistant coach for the previous seven seasons. A 2021 International Swimming Hall of Fame inductee, Khasyanova boasts an extremely decorated professional career competing as a member of the Russian Senior National Team from 1999-2012 and a three-time Olympic gold medalist in the team competition (2004, 2008, 2012).

Additionally, Stanford placed an MPSF-best nine student-athletes on the all-conference team of 20 available spots. First-team selections included Elian, Field, Audrey Kwon, Calista Liu, Ovadia, Ella Rau and Xue while Elisa Brunel and Ivy Davis were named second-team recipients.

The Cardinal will host its Senior Day ceremony on Feb. 28, in conjunction with the Western Regionals meet.

Stanford concludes its season on March 27-28, hosting the U.S. Artistic Swimming Collegiate National Championships at Avery Aquatic Center for the first time since winning it all in front of its home crowd in 2021.
