IRVINE, Calif. – Jenna Flynn and Sienna Green scored four goals apiece, propelling No. 1 Stanford to a 14-7 victory over No. 4 California on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational.
The Cardinal advances to Sunday’s 1:30 p.m. final against No. 2 UCLA and will be chasing its eighth tournament title. Stanford, which has won three of the last four events, is a seven-time champion of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational (2025, 2023, 2022, 2018, 2011, 2009, 2007).
Stanford (5-0, 0-0 MPSF) has now won 22 of the last 27 matchups against California (8-1, 0-0 MPSF) in the rivalry series over the last 12 seasons.
After a back-and-forth first period, the Cardinal seized control and never looked back the rest of the way.
The Golden Bears drew even at 3-3 late in the first quarter before a penalty shot from Sienna Green – her second goal of the period – put the Cardinal ahead 4-3 after eight minutes.
Serena Browne, who also finished with four assists, scored her only goal of the game with 5:53 on the clock in the second quarter, pushing Stanford’s lead to 5-3.
Flynn and Green tacked on again in the second quarter before Ella Woodhead’s goal 71 seconds before halftime put the Cardinal up 9-4 heading into the break.
Juliette Dhalluin added two goals in the second half for Stanford, which converted 4-of-6 on the power play compared to Cal’s clip of 2-of-11.
Christine Carpenter made a season-best 11 saves in goal before Jackie King closed out the final four minutes.
