- No. 8 Stanford men’s swimming and diving returns to Avery Aquatics Center for the final time during the 2025-26 season as it hosts No. 5 California at 1 p.m.
- Friday serves as Senior Day for the Cardinal. The program will honor its seven seniors following competition against the Golden Bears. This year’s seniors are: Liam Custer, Andres Dupont Cabrera, Zhier Fan, Rafael Gu, Hayden Kwan, Henry Morrissey, and Josh Zuchowski.
- Stanford most recently competed two weeks ago against UC San Diego and No. 18 USC, beating both programs in Southern California on Jan. 16-17. The Cardinal beat UC San Diego 177-81 while taking care of business against USC 203-96.
- California is 2-2 this season and will host the University of the Pacific on Thursday in Berkeley for its Senior Day. Their meet wins have come against UC San Diego and No. 18.
- Friday marks the second time these teams will compete head-to-head in a scoring meet. Stanford beat California 205-134 in a double dual in October.
- Stanford most recently won this dual in 2024 to close out the regular season, beating the Golden Bears 170-130 before finishing second in the Pac-12 Championships.
- Stanford swept UC San Diego, winning every individual and relay event on the schedule. Omer Wiener and Henry McFadden both won twice for Stanford, while nine others earned individual wins in various events.
- The Cardinal was nearly perfect against USC the following day, winning every event with the exception of both backstroke events and the 100 fly. Liam Custer and Henry McFadden won twice, while Misha Andriyuk won in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
- Following Stanford’s performance in Southern California, Henry McFadden was named the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the second time in his career.
- Under The Goldman Family Director of Men’s Swimming, Dan Schemmel, Stanford is 26-9 in head-to-head duals.
- Friday’s meet against California is the final tune-up before the 2026 ACC Championships in Atlanta, Ga. The championships run Feb. 15-21 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
