Returning to Augusta

All five in Stanford's lineup heading to ANWA

STANFORD, Calif. — Six current and future Cardinal have accepted invitations to the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, taking place April 1-4 in Augusta, Ga. For all six, it is a return to the event from last year.

2026 is the seventh year of this prestigious event. Since its inception in 2019, a total of 45 invitations have been given to Cardinal to play in the ANWA. Megha Ganne is one of the most experienced players in the field, appearing in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur for the sixth time. Meja Örtengren returns for the fourth time in her career, while Paula Martín Sampedro, Andrea Revuelta, and Kelly Xu are back for the third time. Future Cardinal Nikki Oh accepted an invitation for the second year in a row.

Beginning the week prior to the 90th Masters Tournament, the international field will compete across 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to 30 players and ties taking place after 36 holes. The first two rounds will be contested over two days on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., April 1 and 2, 2026. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round on Friday, April 3. The final 18 holes will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 4, and will feature the competitors who made the cut.

The first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (1:30-3:30 p.m. ET) from Champions Retreat Golf Club. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (Noon-3 p.m. ET) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National. Additionally, Golf Channel’s “Live From the Masters” will commence on Friday, April 3, at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals, and the Masters Tournament.

The field for the 2026 Championship will consist of the following players based on the following qualifications:

  1. Reigning U.S. Women's Amateur Champion
  2. Reigning Women’s Amateur Champion
  3. Reigning Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific Champion
  4. Reigning Girls' Amateur Champion
  5. Reigning U.S. Girls' Junior Champion
  6. Reigning Girls Junior PGA Champion
  7. Reigning NCAA Division I Women’s Individual Champion
  8. Past champions of the Augusta National Women's Amateur within the last five years
  9. The 30 highest-ranked players from the United States of America, based on the prior year's (2025) final Women's World Amateur Golf Ranking, not otherwise qualified
  10. After qualifications 1-8 above, the 30 highest-ranked players not otherwise qualified, as listed on the prior year's (2025) final Women's World Amateur Ranking
  11. Players receiving special invitations from the Augusta National Women's Amateur Committee

For the Winner

Provided she remains an amateur, the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion will receive an invitation to the next five Augusta National Women’s Amateurs, the U.S. Women’s Open, the AIG Women’s Open, the Chevron Championship, the Evian Championship, and any USGA, R&A, and PGA of America amateur championships for which she is eligible for one year.
