STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford men’s soccer will make its 23rd NCAA Tournament appearance as the No. 12 national seed, as announced on the NCAA Selection Show on Monday.
The Cardinal will await the winner of Kansas City–Lindenwood and host the second-round matchup on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 5 p.m. PT. The match is scheduled to stream live on ESPN+.
The rest of the quadrant features an opening-round matchup between Oregon State and Washington, with the winner advancing to face No. 5 SMU. Cornell and Lafayette will battle to take on No. 13 UConn, while No. 4 Maryland awaits the winner of North Carolina–North Florida.
Stanford recorded its most regular-season wins since 2019, finishing 12-2-2 and placing second in the ACC regular-season standings. The Cardinal split its two conference tournament matches, defeating Boston College 4-2 in the opening round before falling 1-0 in the quarterfinals to eventual ACC champion SMU.
The regular-season success resulted in four All-ACC selections for the Cardinal. Fletcher Bank and Zach Bohane earned First Team honors, while Joshua Partal and Jack Pymm were named to the All-Freshman Team.
Stanford is 34-17-13 (.633) all-time in NCAA Tournament play, including a 20-7-11 (.671) mark under Knowles Family Director of Men’s Soccer Jeremy Gunn across 12 appearances. The Cardinal also boasts one of the most dominant stretches in recent history, standing as the last program to win three consecutive NCAA Championships (2015–17). Stanford now aims to return to the College Cup for the eighth time in program history and the first time since 2019.
The ACC once again proved to be the nation’s premier conference with nine tournament qualifiers and four national seeds — both the most of any league. The ACC’s nine bids are tied for the second-most in NCAA Tournament history and mark the 13th straight season the conference has placed the most teams in the field.
