Double Dual Victory

Stanford picks up wins over Arizona State and No. 5 California in the two-day meet

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 3 Stanford women's swimming & diving rolled to a pair of victories, winning 13 of 19 event titles in a two-day double dual against Arizona State and No. 5 California.

The Cardinal defeated Cal 190.5-14.7.5 and knocked off the Sun Devils by a 233-105 score. Stanford hosted the first leg of the meet on Friday at Avery Aquatics Center, before wrapping action in Berkeley on Saturday afternoon. 

Caroline Bricker highlighted the weekend with event titles for Stanford, touching the wall first in the 200 fly (1:52.83) and 400 IM (4:04.30) on Friday, before adding a 200 breast event title with a 2:09.18 swim on Saturday. 

Torri Huske collected a pair of race wins, highlighted by a personal-best 51.62 in the 100 back to break into the Stanford Top 10 in the event. Huske also added a victory in the 100 fly with a 51.05 mark. 

Lucy Bell also added a Stanford Top-10 time, beating her previous lifetime best in the 100 breast, touching the wall first with a 58.29 time. Bell remains the program's second-fastest swimmer of all time in the event.

Annam Olasewere tallied her first collegiate event title with a 22.25 sprint in the 50 free, while Gigi Johnson earned a share of the 100 free title in a dead heat, tying California's Mia West with a 47.89. 

Several Cardinal swimmers also earned podium finishes throughout the weekend. Senior Natalie Mannion earned second in the 200 back (1:55.48) and third in the 200 free (1:45.86), while sophomore Emily Thompson added runner-up honors in the 200 fly (1:56.20) and a third-place finish in the 400 IM (4:08.80).

Sophomore Levenia Sim finished added a second-place finish in the 100 back (53.00), and freshman Addie Robillard claimed third in the 200 breast with an effort of 2:10.01. 

Stanford's relay groups were also in command throughout the weekend, winning three of four events. The Cardinal opened the meet with a 200 medley relay win behind a 1:34.76 swim from Sim, Lucy Thomas, Huske and Olaswere. The quartet of Huske, Olasewere, Johnson and Thomas later added two more relay victories in the 400 free relay (3:12.00) and 200 free relay (1:27.96). 

At the diving boards, Molly Gray swept the weekend by winning the 1-meter (288.90) and 3-meter (326.20) events. Teammates Emilie Moore (308.50) and Anna Lemkin (270.30) joined her on the podium in the 3-meter, completing a Stanford sweep.

Stanford will be back in the pool on Nov. 7, making the return trip to Berkeley for a triple distance meet against California.
