STANFORD, Calif. – Thirteen Stanford men’s rowers and coxswains were named Scholar-Athletes by the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association on Tuesday.
The criteria was at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average, the athlete must be in their second or more year of eligibility, and must have competed in a program’s top three boats.
Stanford’s honorees consisted of seven sophomores, four seniors or graduate students, and two juniors.
Those honored from the Cardinal varsity eight that raced in the IRA Championships were: Tom Corbett, James Fetter, James Pullinger, Adrien Richez, and Max Shakespeare. Fetter and Shakespeare already were named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation team.
Stanford placed ninth in the first varsity eights at the IRA Championships and eighth in the second varsity eights. Those on the 2V8+ at the IRA’s who also were Scholar-Athletes were: Kannan Alford, Callen Berwick, Caspar Griffin, Hylton Harvey, Sandro Scalfi, and Arthur Scott.
