Stanford completes home slate with win on Senior Day

STANFORD, Calif. — Three event wins highlighted a successful completion of the regular season for the Stanford artistic swimming team as it took first place in a four team dual at Avery Aquatic Center on Sunday. Stanford accumulated 87 team points during the meet to claim the top spot while Ohio State took second with 68 points followed by UCLA (62 points) and UC San Diego (8 points).

Taking part in her final collegiate competition on The Farm, Emmanuella Tchakmakjian grabbed first place in the solo, finishing with a routine score of 179.04 which was over 55 points higher than her closest competitor. Having placed second at MPSF Championships a few weeks ago, Tchakmakjian closed out her account at home with her second event win of the season in the solo.

Stanford grabbed its next event win in the trio as the Cardinal took the top two spots in the event. Stanford’s group of Yara Elian, Calista Liu, and senior Lindi Schroeder took the top spot with a routine score of 235.49, narrowly surpassing Megumi Field, Dalia Ovadia and Audrey Kwon who took a score of 223.77 to give Stanford valuable points in the overall team score.

The Cardinal elected to enter only one duet group during Sunday’s competition as Elisa Brunel and Ella Rau went up against tough opposition in Ohio State. Having the first performance off the draw, Brunel and Rau teamed up for a strong performance to take third, placing on the podium with a routine score of 187.71 which was only three points back of second and points from first.

Having taken the team event title at MPSF’s, Stanford dominated the field in the team event on Sunday, taking the top two spots. Having the first performance in the water, the group of Miko Begossi, Ivy Davis, Elian, Field, Kwon, Schroeder, Liu, Ovadia and Tchakmakjian set the top mark with a routine score of 276.04 which stood at the top of the board for the remaining performances as the group took first place. Stanford’s second group of the meet also showed well as Brunel and Rau joined alongside Yujin Chang, Haley Chu, Emily Ding, Atira O’Neil, Manu Pindi and Cambell McMillan to take second place with a score of 239.82. Both of Stanford’s groups in the team competition were the only groups to surpass a routine score of 200.

Stanford is back in action in just under a month to compete at the USA Artistic Swimming Collegiate Nationals from March 28-29 in Ypsilanti, Mich where the Cardinal looks to win its first national championship since 2021.
