BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 5 Stanford finished its time in Louisiana on a high note, sweeping host No. 11 LSU 3-0 Saturday morning. The match was played to decision due to impending inclement weather in the area of the LSU campus.
Stanford left Louisiana with a 3-1 record to move to 16-6 on the year.
After the Cardinal won the first set on all five courts, it was freshman Charlotta Bell and junior Daria Gusarova who secured the first point of the match on court four with a 21-12, 21-9 decisive victory. Sophomore Chloe Hoffman and junior Kelly Belardi posted the second point on court three, earning a 21-15, 21-14 win. Sophomore Ruby Sorra and senior Taylor Wilson clinched the dual with a 23-21, 23-21 gritty victory on court two. Play on courts one and three were suspended in the third sets.
Stanford heads back home to The Farm for its next competition, taking on the University of San Francisco for a single dual Wednesday, April 2 at 3 p.m.
