4-0 Cardinal » The Card opened the season hot last weekend, going 4-0 at the Stanford Invitational with two run-rule wins. Stanford slashed .421/.626/.500 as a team, scoring 35 runs. Cardinal pitchers posted a combined 2.63 ERA, only allowing more than two hits in a game once (four versus Seattle U on Feb. 8).

Back and Hungry for More » Stanford softball won 50 games last season, the second-most in program history and the first 50-win season since 2001. Stanford is coming off consecutive trips to the WCWS for the first time in program history, and third and fourth trips total. The Card's 17 Pac-12 wins tied a program record dating back to 1998.

Bounceback Bats » Cardinal hitters have answered every time they've been called upon this season, scoring immediately after every inning in which their opponent has scored. Stanford immediately erased 1st inning deficits against Seattle U. on Feb. 7 and Feb. 8, then again against Fresno St. on Feb. 9. Seattle on Feb. 8 and Fresno St. on Feb. 9 each scored in the third, and the Card answered right back in the bottom half of both innings.

Returning Production » Stanford retains a huge percentage of offensive production from 2024 to 2025, after a strong season at the plate. The Card finished 2024 hitting .273 as a team, just a hair down from 2023's .280 clip, while boosting total runs scored to 309 from 272 in 2023. The 309 runs were the 5th-most in program history, and the first time eclipsing 300 since 2014.

The Cardinal roster's returning production includes:

    • 81% of hits from 2024
    • 76% of runs from 2024
    • 77% of RBI and total bases from 2024
    • 69% of home runs from 2024

Power Surge » The Cardinal hit the ball hard in 2024 – combining to hit 56 homers after posting just 26 in 2023. The 56 home runs were the most in a single season since 2005, and the second-most all-time. Three newcomers (then-freshmen Jade Berry and Ava Gall, plus transfer Taryn Kern) combined to hit 25 home runs last season - just one shy of the team's total from 2023.

Compound Growth » Since Jessica Allister took over the program ahead of the 2018 season, the Cardinal has scored more runs than the previous season every year – with the exception of the COVID-condensed 2020 season.

Year Runs Scored Year-Over-Year Growth
2024 309 +37 from 2023
2023 272 +27 from 2022
2022 245 +21 from 2021
2021 224 +67 from 2020*
2020 167 -80 from 2019
2019 247 +45 from 2018
2018 202

New Digs » The Cardinal opens the 2025 campaign with 10-straight home games, played at Stanford Stadium. The Cardinal will play all 2025 home games at Stanford Stadium while Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium undergoes renovations. The last time Stanford opened the season at home was 2021, when the Card hosted San Jose State for a three-game series. Stanford went 23-8 at home last season.

Stanford Stadium adds softball to its storied history, having also hosted:
