STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford lacrosse closed out the Pac-12 era in dominant fashion taking both the Pac-12 regular season and the tournament titles.
Despite a slow start to the season with consecutive one goal road losses to Virginia and Yale, the Cardinal then rattled off four straight wins, including an 18-12 win against No. 19 Colorado. Aliya Polisky scored seven goals in the game, her third straight with at least four, and tying for the fifth most in program history.
Stanford tallied five straight games with eight or less goals allowed, four of which included at least 18 goals scored. The Cardinal collected another ranked win, this time an 8-6 victory against No. 19 USC on The Farm.
Stanford claimed the Pac-12 regular season title outright by defeating rival California 15-8 on The Farm. The win secured the Cardinal its third Pac-12 regular season title and its 17th regular season conference championship overall. The Cardinal improved to 11-4 and finished the regular season a perfect 7-0 in Pac-12 play.
Stanford claimed five end of season awards and six all-conference honors the Pac-12 announced on Tuesday afternoon. Madison McPherson was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Annabel Frist was awarded the Draw Specialist of the Year for the second consecutive season, Aliya Polisky was named the Freshman of the Year, Lucy Pearson claimed the Goalkeeper of the Year award and Danielle Spencer was named the conference's Coach of the Year.
In addition to the end of season awards, Frist, McPherson, Polisky, Pearson, and Jay Browne were named All-Pac-12 First Team selections and Jordyn Case was named an All-Pac-12 Second Team selection.
Following a 20-15 win over Arizona State in the Pac-12 Tournament semifinals, the Cardinal had a rematch set up with Colorado in the final.
Stanford secured the final Pac-12 Tournament Championship, taking down Colorado 11-8 in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The win was Stanford's fourth Pac-12 Tournament title and its 20th conference tournament title overall. It also was the final Pac-12 game in the Coliseum.
Jay Browne was named the Pac-12 Tournament MVP after recording five points in the championship game. Stanford's captain dished four assists and added a goal in the win. Jordyn Case, Ailish Kelly, and Lucy Pearson each joined Jay Browne on the Pac-12 All-Tournament team.
The Cardinal’s season wrapped up in the No. 17 Stanford fell to No. 12 Denver in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, 13-12. The Cardinal concludes its season with a 13-5 record.
Following the conclusion of the season, Stanford picked up multiple awards. Annabel Frist, Madison McPherson, Lucy Pearson, and Aliya Polisky were each named ILWomen All-Americans honorable mention selections. The same four Cardinal players were also lauded as IWLCA All-West/Midwest selections.
Annabel Frist and Aliya Polisky each earned an All-America nod from USA Lacrosse as well. It was the first USA Lacrosse All-America award for both Frist and Polisky.
