Stanford Welcomes Ma for 2024-25 Season

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford's Knowles Family Director of Men's Golf, Conrad Ray, announced the addition of incoming Harvard transfer Brian Ma on Monday afternoon. Ma, who is set to arrive on The Farm ahead of the 2024–25 season, will join the Cardinal with one season of eligibility remaining.

"Brian Ma will be a great addition to our roster next fall," coach Ray said. "He is a proven winner and a consummate student-athlete. We are very excited to add his talents and senior leadership to a young squad next season"

Hailing out of Milpitas, Calif., the Harvard captain registered the lowest single-season scoring average in Crimson program history last season with an average round of 69.55, surpassing the previous record by over two strokes. He also holds the lowest career scoring average in school history at 71.236 strokes.

This season, Ma has turned in six sub-70 rounds and two top-five finishes, finishing second at Yale's MacDonald Cup and fifth at the Doc Gimmler hosted at Bethpage Golf Club's Red Course.

A season ago, Ma was unanimously voted the Ivy League Player of the Year, becoming the second golfer in program history to win the award. The two-time Ping All-Northeast Region Team member also earned Harvard's first All-America honors since 1982 after being named to the 2023 NCAA D1 Ping All-America Honorable Mention team.

On the USGA scene, Ma was the stroke play runner-up at the 2021 U.S. Amateur after shooting a 7-under 133 at Oakmont Country Club, as well as a Round of 16 match play finisher in the 2019 U.S. Junior Amateur.

Prior to his arrival at Harvard, Ma was a 2019 AJGA Rolex Junior Second Team All-America honoree and was the fifth-ranked golfer in the Class of 2019 according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. A two-time WCAL Golf Championship medalist and the 2018 WCAL Golfer of the Year, Ma was the 2017 San Francisco City Golf champion to become the third youngest winner in the tournament's 100-plus-year history.

A two-time Academic All-Ivy selection, Ma will graduate from Harvard with a bachelor of arts degree in economics in May 2024.
