Season in Review: Cross Country

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford's 2022 cross country season will always be notable for marking the first time a Cardinal runner captured an NCAA cross country individual title.

Charles Hicks outkicked Northern Arizona's Nico Young down the stretch on a crisp cool sunny morning at Oklahoma State's Greiner Family Cross Country Course. Hicks set a course record while leading the Cardinal to fourth place as a team.

It was the pinnacle of the season for a Stanford men's team that had much success, winning the Pac-12 and West Region championships, as well as the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. Hicks repeated as conference champion and Ky Robinson won the Nuttycombe race and placed 10th at NCAA's.

The Cardinal women earned their third consecutive NCAA West Region title and placed 13th at nationals, with Zofia Dudek emerging to win All-America honors.

Men's coach Ricardo Santos and women's coach J.J. Clark each earned West Region Coach of the Year honors.
