Schools, Departments and Interdisciplinary Programs
Three of Stanford's seven schools offer undergraduate and graduate programs: Earth Sciences, Engineering and Humanities and Sciences. The other four schools offer graduate programs: Business, Education, Law and Medicine.

A complete list of academic departments is available both alphabetically and by school. In addition, a number of interdisciplinary programs cross the boundaries between departments and disciplines.

Undergraduate Education
The Stanford undergraduate degree program is designed to achieve balance between depth of knowledge acquired through specialization and breadth of knowledge gained through exploration. Graduate Education
Nearly 8,000 students in 63 departments and programs are currently pursuing graduate degrees at Stanford. An overview of the graduate program can be found in Stanford Facts. The Graduate Student Handbook describes the numerous offices and resources which support graduate students in their academic and research endeavors.

Executive, Professional, Continuing & K-12 Education
Stanford offers valuable opportunities for lifelong learning. Continuing Studies schedules a broad range of courses for people in the Bay Area. The Stanford Center for Professional Development provides degree and non-degree distance-learning courses. The Graduate School of Business and Law School offer executive education. Summer Session provides high school, undergraduate, and graduate students unique access to Stanford's outstanding faculty. The Education Program for Gifted Youth delivers e-learning courses for K-12 students.

Libraries
Standford University Libraries contain more than 8 million volumes and maintain an online catalog called Socrates.

Registrar's Office & Course Information
The Registrar's Office maintains students' academic records, produces the Stanford Bulletin course catalog and sets the academic calendar. They also maintain Axess, the on-line academic information system used by students, faculty and advisors.
